Teaching literature with the Internet

• Using technology in the teaching of literature is rather new while its roots and the rationale behind are not. Research suggests that teaching with visual materials results in a greater degree of learning by making the abstract concrete.
  

• Using e-texts in foreign language teaching is used with a belief that such texts can increase the quality of comprehension with their colourful animation, graphics, and photos.
  
• Relevant research suggests that using pictures and visual materials reduces L2 students’anxiety and assists them in their development of such ‘difficult to learn skills’ like writing.
  
• Future foreign language teachers demand to be “provided opportunities for dialogue” in the current educational environment in which ‘technology has become an integral part of teaching’. Thus, because the Internet can be thought as a terrain of dialogues, it can and should be used in the teaching of literature to pull literary reading from a passive activity for a fully creative resource and point of departure, extending our thought towards action. After all, have not the discussion boards become real conversations for many of us?
